Amid rekindled controversy, Wilmington City Councilwoman Shané Darby files for State House rematch
A Wilmington City Councilwoman is preparing to take a second attempt in attempting to represent the city at Legislative Hall.
Councilwoman Shané Darby lost a 2022 State Representative District 1 (Wilmington) Democratic primary to Rep. Nnamdi Chuckwuocha by 90 votes (51.6%-48.4%), and while Chukwuocha hasn't officially filed his paperwork to run, a rematch is expected after Darby officially filed her paperwork to run on Friday, January 9.
In 2022, she did not officially file to run until July 12, just 63 days before the primary.
The Wilmington native is a mother of three, and founded Black Mothers in Power, a non-profit aimed at creating equity in material health care. and has worked as a paralegal She's also been a member of the Army National Guard since 2012.
